Anyone interested in taking the lead on this? Should be fun, and even if we
don't win, it'll increase Habitat's visibility.

Hello! Does your service group have a charity it supports?

If so, read on!

As you may or may not know, every year Alpha Phi Omega runs a campus-wide
charity event called UMOC [Ugliest Man on Campus]! The idea behind UMOC is
simple: various charities line up and have a candidate represent their
cause, then members of the MIT community vote for the Ugliest Man / charity
of their choice / multiple charities! Whoever makes the most money during
the competition is, of course, the winner, and that candidate's charity is
awarded *all* of the money raised. UMOC is traditionally a fun and amusing
week-long event that we hope will be bigger than ever and raise a lot of
money for a needy charity this year!

For that to happen, though, we need your support. Currently there aren't any
UMOC candidates- and without Ugly Men*, there can be no charitable
donations! Therefore, we ask that you discuss UMOC with your group members
and nominate one of them to run for this year's UMOC title, so that you can
raise money for a charity in line with your service group's interests.

The competition this year runs from November 16 to November 20, and the
candidates will display themselves for public voting in Lobby 10. Since this
is MIT and *everyone* is busy, we don't expect candidates to be there hours
on end (we'll have the candidates' pictures up in case a candidate can't be
present), but active campaigning is a surefire way to bring in both the
dollars and the title, so show up and show off during the week!

Below are links to the documents necessary for application to UMOC. If you
have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for your help,
Grant Robinson and APO

*We have noticed in the past that women, microwaves, and even decade-plus
old milk make for rather ugly men.
