Hello! I thought you'd like to know about a few grant opportunities
for funding community service activities.
The Community Service Fund application deadline for spring is
February 17. CSF focuses on projects that benefit communities near
MIT. You can find application information and a form at
http://web.mit.edu/csf.
The Coop Grant also focuses on communities in the Cambridge-Boston
area. The Coop Grant is only for group projects, but an individual
can apply with the aim of organizing a service activity that involves
the participation of other MIT students. Coop Grant information is
available at
http://web.mit.edu/mitpsc/fundedopps/grants/coopgrants.shtml
PSC grants are not restricted by area: you can use a PSC grant to
serve communities anywhere in the world. As with the other grants,
we prefer to fund projects that involve reasonable numbers of MIT
students for the scope of the project. Planning an overseas project
for two? Think about how other MIT students can be involved in
helping to prepare materials. Want to teach music to local children
who are homeless? Think about organizing a few other MIT students to
help. The guidelines are available at
http://web.mit.edu/mitpsc/fundedopps/grants/pscgrants.shtml
Other subjects of possible interest:
*Paid Spring Education Fellowships are still available:
http://web.mit.edu/mitpsc/fellowships/spring/
*SciPro mentorships available (work-study and volunteer)--deadline
extended to Monday, Feb 16: http://web.mit.edu/mitpsc/programs/scipro/
*Summer Fellowship applications will be available in March!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Sally
