Hello Sid!
Shannon forwarded your email to me and I am so happy that MIT wants to
participate in Youth United. As Shannon mentioned, our next meeting is
Thursday, November 20 at 5pm. It will be held at the Habitat Boston office,
which is on 273 Summer Street, 3rd Floor. (Take the red line to South
Station, then when you get out of the station, turn right and keep walking
past the bridge, past one block and the building will be on your right. If
you need to call me, my cell phone number is 201-310-1582).
During the first meeting, representatives from BU, Wellesley and Harvard
were
present. We talked about our vision for YU in Boston and brainstormed
goals.
During next week's meeting, we hope to solidify the board and discuss our
kickoff event (very exciting - perhaps a visit from MIllard!). We will also
be discussing other logistical info, such as board responsibilities, chapter
responsibilities, etc. I encourage you or someone from your chapter to
attend
the meeting. Students from Olin College and Milton Academy have always
expressed interest in joining the board.
We want each chapter to have representation on the board so we hope that you
or members of your chapter apply for a position. I sent a packet to Radhika
back in early October with the information on the board and the positions.
You can disregard the deadline (which says Oct. 8), although please try to
submit a form by next Thursday. The packet also contains some other
information about Youth United, and I will be emailing the minutes from the
last meeting by the end of this week to give you a better idea of where we
are.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions. I
hope to see you next week!
Sincerely,
Mae
