iCloud will synchronize the keychains via your Apple ID.

Hello all,
I'm interested in speaking to anyone who has successfully transferred a Mac keychain from one computer (ideally running 10.11 (El Capitan) or later) to a new computer, running 10.12 (Sierra) or 10.13 (High Sierra).
I'm specifically looking for a method to transfer the keychain without using Migration Assistant and migrating the entire account.
The most recent documentation I can find is this fairly outdated (links to a deprecated page) Apple page: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH20120?locale=en_US
I've tried following these instructions (copy login.keychain from ~/Library/Keychains, rename and transfer to new computer, in Keychain Access --> Add Keychain), but I've ended up with a variety of errors or odd behavior, including OS X prompting for the password to the old keychain on every restart or entirely randomly.
Thanks, in advance, for your help!
