Good evening,

As many of you are already aware, the recent Java 7 update 45 caused problems with some MIT applications that require Java. For example, your web browser may require that you update to the latest Java version in order to use the Cisco WebEx client. We have documented these problems and available work arounds in the Knowledge Base, http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/hqIBCQ. The latest updates and fixes will be available in the KB article as well.

Oracle's release of Update 45 for Java 7 delivers critical security patches. Oracle is strongly recommending all Java 7 users upgrade to this release. More information is available directly from Oracle: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

Please contact your local support provider before upgrading as Update 45 may affect other Java applications used locally.

If you need any additional help, please contact the IS&T Help Desk via email, helpdesk at mit.edu, or phone, 617-253-1101.

Thank you,
Chris
