Good morning,

There is a compatibility issue between PGP and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

IS&T provides PGP Full Disk Encryption software<http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/Cwta> for administrators on campus who have a business need to handle sensitive data for MIT. However, it may be several months before Symantec releases a version of PGP that runs on Mac OS X 10.7 (see the Symantec Advisory<http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH165159>). For this reason, IS&T recommends that users who handle sensitive data on Macs, and use PGP for encryption, WAIT to upgrade to Lion.

Our Recommendations for Mac OS X 10.7 Users
A recommendation has been provided by the IT Security team regarding the use of FileVault 2 -- the native encryption tool built into the operating system -- on Mac OS X 10.7. These recommendations and precautionary steps have been posted to the Hermes knowledge base<http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/AoAiAw>. Please read the notice carefully before enabling FileVault 2 as a whole disk encryption solution.
