Good Morning,
Information Services and Technology (IS&T) announced support for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 for Windows in December 2010.
At this time, IS&T recommends that Macintosh users upgrade to Office 2011 from existing installations of Office 2004 and 2008 for better performance, integration, and compatibility. IS&T will continue to support Office 2008, but will retire support for Office 2004 August 1, 2011.
Here is the schedule for retiring Office 2004 at MIT:
• July 1, 2011 – The Office 2004 installer will be removed from IS&T's Available Software page<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/available-software>. The installer will be archived and provided by the IS&T Help Desk only upon request.
• August 1, 2011 – IS&T will end support for Office 2004.
How to Obtain Office for Mac 2011
MIT offers Office for Mac 2011 through the Microsoft Campus Agreement at no direct cost to departments, for faculty and staff use, and for student use on MIT-owned machines. To learn more about MSCA policies with respect to students, see the Microsoft Campus Agreement: Overview page<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/msca/overview#students>.
You can download the software by starting at the Office for Mac 2011 page<http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/office/2011>. After accepting the Campus Agreement license terms (certificates<http://ist.mit.edu/services/certificates> required), double-click the ms-office-2011.dmg file and then open Office Installer.
