Good Morning--

Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce preliminary support for Apple's latest operating system, Mac OS X Lion (10.7).

IS&T, via the Help Desk, will support the following services and software in Lion:

* Exchange connections via Apple Mail, Address Book, iCal, and Outlook for Mac 2011
* MIT traditional email (IMAP account) configuration in Apple Mail
* Certificate installation (Firefox and Safari)
* VPN installation and setup
* Jabber setup
* Wireless network connectivity to the MIT SECURE network
* Wired network connectivity
* Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac
* McAfee Security Suite 1.1 for Mac
* VMWare Fusion 3.1

Please be aware: a bug in Lion's Kerberos implementation prevents IS&T from offering full support for this operating system. The issue has been reported to Apple and a fix is planned for a "future operating system update."

Because of this bug, IS&T is currently unable to support Kerberized applications (SAPgui, Fetch, etc.) and strongly recommends that those needing to use these programs wait to install Mac OS X Lion.

Documentation for Lion can be found in the Hermes knowledge base http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/x/CQAJAg.

Lion users in need of further assistance can contact the Help Desk at 617.253.1101, helpdesk at mit.edu, or by submitting a request online (http://ist.mit.edu/support).
