[Macpartners] video adapters

Colleagues,
one of my users is buying an iMac and wants to connect his existing  
Apple 23" Cinema Display with the ADC connector to the second display  
port of this iMac. The only way it seems possible is with a kludge:
from the iMac to a Mini DisplayPort--DVI adapter;
from there to the Apple DVI to ADC Display Adapter;
then to the Cinema Display.

However, this old Apple Cinema Display gets its power from the CPU box  
over this huge cable, does it not? Will this kludge work?
