Hi All,
I wanted to share an overview of changes to the MacBook Pro line today. While our tech specs page details high level changes, there are a few smaller updates you might need to know. I have highlighted changes representing new features or updates from the previous generation.
If you have any questions please let me know!
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)
Faster processor
Core i5 Processor at 2.4 or 2.53 GHz.
Core i7 Processor at 2.66 GHz.
All processors are dual core. This is different from some Core i5/i7 iMac processors that are quad core.
Significant performance boosts from Turbo Boost, Hyperthreading and an integrated memory controller.
Updated graphics
Integrated Intel HD Graphics (with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory)
Discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (with either 256MB or 512MB of GDDR3 memory)
Switching between the graphics cards happens on the fly automatically, depending on which services applications are using. This is a change from previous generations, which required logging out of the user account.
You can switch to use only the discrete card in the System Preferences Energy Saver pane.
Boot Camp will only use the discrete graphics card.
Longer battery life (8-9 hours)
Optional Hi-Res Screen
New CTO option for a glossy or matte screen at 1680x1050
Brighter screen
Mini DisplayPort now supports video + audio
Updated trackpad. Featuring inertial scrolling, similar to the iPhone or iPad it will detect the speed and force of your finger movement .
L-shaped MagSafe connector
Same shape as the new the white unibody MacBook. The adapter is still 85W.
4GB RAM standard, 8GB option
Larger hard drives
320 GB HD (5400 rpm)
500 GB HD (5400 rpm)
500 GB HD (7200 rpm)
128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB SSD
OS Build
