Good morning,

Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce the availability of FileMaker 10
for Macintosh and Windows. IS&T offers full support for FileMaker Pro 10 and limited support for
FileMaker Server Advanced 10.

Current users of version 8.x or earlier are encouraged to upgrade directly to FileMaker 10. Users of
FileMaker 9 may continue using that version or upgrade to FileMaker 10 if they want or need features
specific to FileMaker 10.

IS&T has discontinued support for FileMaker Pro 8.5, effective immediately.

New Features
------------
FileMaker 10 has a significantly different user interface than version 9. You can find links to
documentation and a video tutorial at:

http://itinfo.mit.edu/article.php?id=9106

Some valuable new features and functionalities have also been added:

System Requirements
-------------------
For detailed system requirements for FileMaker Pro 10 on Macintosh and Windows, go to:

http://filemaker.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/filemaker.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6930

For detailed system requirements for FileMaker Server Advanced 10 on Macintosh and Windows, go to:

http://filemaker.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/filemaker.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7152

Backwards Compatibility
-----------------------
FileMaker 10 uses the same file format as the 7.x through 9.x family. No file conversion is required
to upgrade. However, IS&T recommends against using FileMaker 10 in a mixed environment with earlier
versions: there are feature differences that could cause problems for users of older versions, and
FileMaker Server 10 is *not* compatible with version 7 clients.

Advanced for Institute purposes only on machines owned or administered by MIT. Faculty and staff can
