[Macpartners] moving user's stickies from one mac to another (leopard to snow leopard)

i found that copying ~/Library/Preferences/*[Ss]tick* from old mac to new mac does not work!

if i look at the copied file on the new mac with textwrangler or similar, i can see all the data.
but these same data do not show when the stickies app is launched.

any ideas?
permissions are all fine on copied stickies files.

(i never use stickies, but a couple of our users do... and are terrified at thought of losing them!)
