Good morning,
Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to announce
support for VirusScan 8.6.1p1 for Mac OS X users. VirusScan 8.6.1p1
is for all Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
Notable Features
----------------
This version fixes slow down issues some users have seen when
running previous versions of VirusScan on PPC hardware, and during
virus definition updates.
New features include:
* McAfee's latest virus detection engine (5300)
Who Should Upgrade to VirusScan 8.6.1p1?
----------------------------------------
IS&T recommends that all Macintosh users running Mac OS X 10.4 or later
should upgrade to VirusScan 8.6.1p1.
If you have a previous version of VirusScan installed, you should remove
it by running the uninstall script, included in the download, prior to
installing this version.
Known Issues
------------
Some users have reported a 30 second slow down during the automatic
virus
definition update that occurs at 2:35 p.m. each day. If you find this
time inconvenient, you may reschedule the update by following these
directions:

VirusScan 8.6.1p1 requires a PowerPC or Intel-based Macintosh running
Mac OS X 10.4 or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
