Here's some basic instructions for remote desktop access for macs
running OS X.

Open the "Sharing" System Preferences panel. On the Services tab,
first enable Apple Remote Desktop, and then click the Access
Privileges button.

For VNC remote access (PC or earlier Macs):
On the next screen, activate the VNC checkbox and enter a password:
After setting this up, you can now remotely control your Mac with any
free VNC viewer (e.g. Chicken of the VNC), running on Mac OS X or any
other OS. Chicken of the VNC seems to work the best with default
settings, be sure you record your work computers IP.

For Screen Sharing Access (Leopard, and best functionality)
If you will be connecting from a leopard machine, enable ARD from the
above directions, but instead, do not check the VNC box, and remove
the password. Select Access Privileges, and select at least one user,
usually the one you normally log in with, and make sure to check off
the options you would like the remote connection to have, only check
what is needed here, think security.

On your home machine launch \<your hard drive>\System\Library\Core
Services\Screen Sharing.app Enter the IP of your work machine, and
hit connect. It will ask you for a username and password to connect
to, once entered, you should be in.

Enjoy!
