[Macpartners] safari 3.1.2 update break MIT personal certificates?

this was exactly the behavior i saw.
before posting i had tried deleting certificates and getting them anew.
but did not solve problem.
did not go after the public ca keys.
will try that., and write back.
am back...
seems better. back to the 10.5.3 behavior (prompted for certificate
'only' couple times, eg. when attempting a download from mit.edu/
software.)
still no joy on the ecat page where one clicks 'Place Departmental
Purchase'.
this was working before the update.
(perhaps it still does, but now one needs to click more than 100 times
on the !@#$! certificate? which i am not keen to test.)
attached is certificate selection request that won't go away...
