[Macpartners] Is there a file format that Macintosh can write and Windows can read?

I have a firewire / external hard disk.  I need to write data from a Macintosh to the drive, which then needs to be read by a Windows PC.  It seems that Mac can read NTFS that has been written by a PC, but the Mac doesn't seem to be able to write in the format.  

Is there a way to format a Seagate external hard disk so that the Mac can write to it and the PC can read it?
