If you have difficulty launching Rosetta applications (such as Word,
Excel, Powerpoint, and others) on an Intel-based Mac after having
installed QuickTime 7.2, see Apple Article ID: 306043
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306043> titled "Mac OS
X: Some applications may not open after QuickTime 7.2 Update". (The
symptom of not being able to launch an application is that it bounces
in the dock a few times and then stops bouncing and isn't running.)

If you follow the instructions in the article and are still having the
problem, it may be because you have installed a program that is
causing prebinding to fail. Java SE 6.0 Release 1 Developer
Preview 6 seems to be the most common case of a program that causes
prebinding to fail.

The message at
<http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4931652#4931652>
deals with the specific case of the prebinding failing due to the Java
SE 6.0 Release 1 Developer Preview 6. If prebinding is failing but you
haven't installed Java SE 6.0 Release 1 Developer Preview 6, there are
suggestions further down in the thread for how you might be able to
determine what is causing prebinding to fail in your case.
