[Macpartners] Bluetooth data connectivity on Macintosh with VPN

I have some users who would like to be able to go online using
Bluetooth and a GSM mobile phone (T-Mobile with a data plan).
However, when the Cisco VPN client is installed on those machines, no
connection via Bluetooth/GSM is possible.

I have tested this with PPC and Intel Macs, and on various versions
of 10.4. The only constant in the equation is the Cisco VPN software
(version 4.9).

The dilemma I have is that I require users to have a net 18 address
to access some resources, so uninstalling the VPN software is not an
option. Nor can these users install and uninstall the VPN as they
need it (even assuming they have admin rights on the machine, which
they do not). However, they would like to be able to connect using
Bluetooth/GSM when they are not near a Wifi access point (or wired
access).

Does anyone know of a workaround? Has anyone tested the MacOS built-
in VPN client with MIT's VPN server?

Thanks,

--Helen
