[Macpartners] iMac and shutdown problems

A user with a new iMac is having problems with OS-based shutdowns.   It tries to
shutdown, gets to a blue screen, and freezes at that point.   They can only shut
perform a full shutdown by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

Any ideas what might be causing this?   The user is very Mac knowledgeable.

Might Virex, which is also installed, be an issue?
