Good afternoon,
Information Services and Technology is pleased to announce that a
project to release SAPgui 7.00 for the Mac to the MIT community has
begun. SAPgui 7.00 for the Mac is the first SAPgui version designed to
run natively on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macintoshes running
Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger". IS&T expects to have an installer for SAPgui
7.00 for the Mac available to the MIT community this winter, once
testing has been completed.
There are no significant new featuresintroduced with this SAPgui
version (other than support of Intel-based Macs). However, SAPgui 7.00
for the Mac does contain fixes for some bugs in the current version of
the SAPgui 6.40 Rev 6 for Power-PC based Macintoshes running "Tiger"
(Mac OS X 10.4).
SAPgui 7.00 for the Mac will become the recommended version of the
SAPgui for Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" users sometime in 2007, in
conjunction with the planned retirement of SAPgui 6.40 for the Mac.
SAPgui 6.30 for the Mac only runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 "Panther". Due to
important differences in the Java runtime environment, SAPgui 6.30
users wishing to upgrade to SAPgui 7.00 will need to upgrade their
operating systems to Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" or later.

If you have questions, suggestions, or would like to help test the
SAPgui 7.00 for the Mac, or to participate in the release project in
some other way, please contact the team via email at sapgui at mit.edu.
All the Best,
