Hello Mac Partners,
Information Services and Technology, IS&T, is writing to inform you that we
have an important fix available for a bug found in the Mac TSM v5.3.2
backup client.
This email notification is also being sent to Macintosh users that are
currently using version 5.3.2.
The bug affects how TSM manages the password on the users machine. What we
have observed is that, in some cases, the TSM client software is
prematurely invalidating the stored TSM password which could prevent the
users data from being backed up.
On 5/17/06, the IBM patched version 5.3.4, was made available on MIT's
website: http://web.mit.edu/software/mac.html
We strongly advise that anyone using v5.3.2 upgrade their TSM client to
version 5.3.4 otherwise there is the risk that a their backup will not
complete due to an invalid password.
After updating, if they are unable to connect, the TSM password may need to
be reset. This can be done by visiting:
https://backup-w.mit.edu/cgi-bin/resettsmpw.cgi
If you have any questions or problems with this upgrade, please send mail
to tsm-systems at mit.edu . For general questions about TSM backup, contact
the computing Help Desk at computing-help at mit.edu .
