[Macpartners] Apple Mail migration woes

I'm migrating our users from Eudora over to Mail using the Eudora
Cleaner utility. A recent migration brought over the mailboxes and
messages fine. However the addresses caused Address Book to gag and
crash. Subsequent restarts and permission repairs did nothing to
help. As soon as Address Book began importing, it would bring in a
few, gag, and the Beachball of Death would appear, also causing
Safari and Mail to crash as well. I went into User > Library >
Application Support > Address Book and cleared out the imported files
to get Address Book back in shape. I then went back and tried to
migrate individual Eudora address folders, one at a time. Even with
only 12 addresses in a folder, Address Book started importing, got a
few names in, then gagged and crashed. That user is just rebuilding
her entire address book.
However, many users here have hundreds of Eudora addresses in dozens
of folders, and they will HATE me if I make them do this. A few are
refusing to move from Eudora. Any idea why these Eudora addresses
seem to corrupt Address Book?
A really annoying feature of Apple Mail is the way it handles
attachments. They get stuck into the text where the cursosr happens
to be at the moment, rather than up above in the header. Also, some
pdfs appear as entire images, which require selecting "Show as Icon"
if the user wants them to appear as an icon. They also appear TWICE,
once in the body of the message, and once above in the header. Many
have been confused when I've sent attachments, saying they see some
above, some below. What's the reason for Mail displaying attachment's
"inline". I can't find anything in Preferences to make this consistent.
