Hi,

The wonderful folks at Apple have removed the 17" G4 PowerBook from
the online educational catalog. They have replaced it with a 17"
Intel MacBook Pro. Since the 17" G4 is no longer a valid
configuration on the either the Institutional or individual purchase
sites, we've updated the ECAT sites with the new 17" MacBook Pro
configuration.

Institutional and Individual Purchase Bundle Configuration:

MacBook Pro 17" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo
• 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo
• 1GB 667 DDR2 - 1 SO-DIMM
• 100GB Serial ATA drive @ 7200 rpm
• SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
• Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
• AirPort Extreme Card & Bluetooth
• 17-inch TFT Display AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook Pro/
PowerBook (w/or w/o Display) - Auto-enroll

The price on this machine is about $300 higher than the 17" G4
PowerBook it was replacing. The RAM was not configurable below 1 GB.
However, you do have the choice of 1 - 1GB DIMM or 2 - 512MB DIMMs.
It costs $90 more to get the single DIMM. Also noteworthy is that a
FireWire 800 port is available.

Of course, you can configure the machine however you wish. The above
configuration is the bundled system available in the Recommended
Systems section. Both of the bundled MacBook Pro systems have a
statement warning to clients read the MacPartners site regarding
incompatible software.

Thanks,
-chris
