[Macpartners] Endnote 9 crashes

Please help with the following problem on OSX from one of my users:

I start by opening a new document in MS Word 2004. The links to 
Endnote 9 look good - I see links in the tools menu and a Endnote 
control palette appears on the desktop.

I type a bit and then go to Endnote and select a reference from my 
library, which it opens automatically when Endnote starts up. (I set 
this up in Endnote preferences, along with the pointers to folder 
locations for style, connection and filter files.)

Back to Word, I add the selected reference. This words fine. I can do 
this as many times as I  want.

Then, I select "format bibliography" in the Endnote subset of the 
MSWord tools menu. I pick output style and then click ok. The error:
"Endnote is not responding. Error = -609" appears in a dialog box. (I 
do not click "OK" because this is not ok!) Also, another box comes up 
saying: "The application Endnote 9.0 has unexpectedly quit"
