[Macpartners] Strange OS 10.4.2 Behavior

About a week ago my G4 started exhibiting what I see in the following 
screen shots. If I log on as a different user I don't get this 
behavior, only as the main user.


Under this pull down window as well as ones in other apps a doubling 
of some of the options. Restart, Shutdown, Log Out.......


  Click on a desktop item and a highlight box appears which might stay 
in that location.



Highlight square around the back arrow, (upper left corner).



More doubling in pulldown menues.

Any thoughts other than reinstalling system which I'd rather not do.
