[Macpartners] A question about remote control of G5

You sound a bit confused.

First, I was explicitly looking for the hostnames, IPs in question. It's not
like DNS names and IPs are any secret (you are routinely being port-scanned by
multitudes of malicious people everyday, so revealing the info won't hurt).
E-mail me those in private if you are uncomfortable posting here. Your problem
is almost certainly a networking/DNS issue. I can't comment without specifics.

Second, sshd should be enabled on your Mac to accept remote logins. The easiest
way to do this is to check 'Remote Login' in the System Preferences | Sharing
property sheet. Check also the firewall is allowed to let port 22/tcp in
through (it will do so by default), if enabled.

Mac OS X does not have a registry. That is a Windows concept. There are various
traditional UNIX plaintext and/or XML-based configuration files, some of which
are modified to enable sshd, but unless you're an expert user, you're best off
using the GUI to change them.
