Good afternoon:
In support of the strategic direction to utilize IMAP technology for
email services, IS&T recommends that users access email with
Microsoft's email applications on Windows machines or Apple's email
application on Macintosh. These email applications, which come
standard as part of your OS, are rich in functionality, and simplify
the maintenance of your computing environment since they can receive
automatic upgrades and security fixes, much like your operating
system.
In an effort to ease the email migration process for POP users of
Eudora 5.2.1 (Win) to Outlook Express or Outlook 2003 and Eudora 6.1
(Mac) to Apple Mail configured using IMAP, IS&T has scheduled various
IAP sessions throughout the month of January to assure a smooth
transition. The team will evaluate the need to extend, repeat or hold
additional events based on demand from the MIT community. During
IAP, the IS&T Email Migration team, in conjunction with other IT
colleagues around the Institute, will work with the MIT community by
hosting these sessions consisting of migration overviews, hands on
walk-in clinics, quick starts, and if necessary, travel on campus to
those who have reached out for assistance but do not have a portable
machine such as a laptop. Below is a list of scheduled IAP sessions.

What can you do
-------------------------
We would be interested to hear what the needs of your particular
Department, Lab or Center has in order to migrate. Perhaps you are a
large Department, Lab or Center without an IT Partner to help in the
migration process and need additional assistance or do not have a
laptop to transport to a walk-in clinic. Please send email to
<email-migration at mit.edu> should you require assistance.
For our IT Partners who will require assistance, please send email to
<email-migration at mit.edu>.
