[Macpartners] problems printing from word

Guys,

I am stumped by this problem and am hoping you can at least start me  
on a direction to a solution.
This is occurring right now on two desktops that I know of - 1 on a  
G5 iMac and one on at dual 2.0 G5 tower.

Both are running:
10.4.2 with the latest security updates - I believe neither has the  
latest safari update.
office 2004 with all the available office updates
both are networked and have multiple printers setup in print center
most of the printers in question are xeroxs (7700, 3450, 8200, 8400,  
and 3535)
both have Mathtype installed on top of word

All of a sudden, both users started reporting that when printing a  
word document (it appears to happen only with a word document) they  
can only print to their default printer. If they select "print" from  
within word and select any printer other than their default printer  
in the print dialog, the print job will still go to their default  
printer.

To the best of my know ledge this has not occurred on either machine  
prior to this past week or so.

Any ideas?
any suggestions where to turn for help with this?
One of these users is our VP for BioInformatics so this is a rather  
pressing issue!
