[Macpartners] recurring G5-OfficeX problem

I've been running Microsoft Word (OfficeX) on a G5 iMac for several 
months. Most of the time it works fine, but every few weeks it gives 
me error messages such as "Shared library error" or "this document is 
in use by another user". In each case I can solve the problem by 
throwing away the Word preference file and re-launching Word to 
generate a new pref file. But it's getting annoying. Does anyone have 
any ideas about what's going on?  (Incidentally, I've reinstalled 
OfficeX and OSX from the original disks several times).
