[Macpartners] Possible Problem with Mail and 10.3.9

This has had me very sad. I upgraded to 10.3.9 when I heard the java
issue had been fixed and before I heard of the severity of the mail
problem. I had the hang of getting through my 90% spam ratio with
Mail.app, and am not happy with the alternatives.

It seems to be something about SSL IMAP and the connection, it looks
like the communication pauses or freezes and is lost.

However, there is a trick which seems to have worked for me, I was
watching the discussion at

http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@661.Rsqja9EMSxR.0@.68ac82c4
"Topic: Mail 1.3.11 - IMAPS support is broken?"

and someone just posted:

I worry that this could send your password over the net in the clear,
at least once, so I don't endorse it myself without advise from the
network exports.

I tried this, and it seems to have cleared up the problem for me,
though it still has many megabytes of caching to catch up on from when
I wiped the cache in previous trials. I'm also coming in from a hotel
in california, which is another variable.
