[Macpartners] Apple Computer ECAT now available

Good afternoon,

The MIT Procurement Department and IS & T are pleased to announce that 
Apple Computer's ECAT catalog for MIT is now available to the 
community. Apple, through its direct business model, designs, 
manufactures and customizes computer hardware, including desktops, 
servers, and laptops.  Having this direct relationship will improve 
order accuracy, reduce delivery time, and provide better pricing for 
institutional orders. Apple is the second manufacturer to be added to 
the growing list of ECAT vendors.

Through the ECAT catalog the MIT community will have access to the MIT 
Recommended desktop and notebook systems, as well as the entire line of 
Apple products.  You will be able to custom configure a system to meet 
your requirements and submit the order to Apple directly through SAP.

The Apple ECAT catalog is available for use beginning today. To connect 
to the catalog go to http://web.mit.edu/ecat (select Apple Computer)

In addition to the availability of an ECAT catalog, Apple and MIT are 
introducing another improvement to the partnership.  Beginning this 
month, all purchase orders issued to Apple will be invoiced 
electronically.  The electronic invoices will be posted automatically 
in SAP and immediately viewable on DTRs (document type EI).  Any 
invoicing questions or discrepancies should be directed to Laura

Representatives from Apple will be available at our annual vendor fair 
under the tent in McDermott Court from 9:00am - 2:00pm on Thursday, 
September 9th.
