Apple Announces iBook Repair Program
Apple has identified a problem with some of the logic boards in
specific iBook models manufactured between May 2002 and April 2003.
The problem manifests itself by display symptoms upon startup. If
your iBook has a serial number between UV220XXXXXX and UV318XXXXXX,
you may be eligible for a free repair, or if you have already paid
for a repair you may be eligible for Apple reimbursement.
The symptoms for the display include one or more of the following:
Scrambled or distorted video
Appearance of unexpected lines on the screen
Intermittent video image
Video freeze
Computer starts up to blank screen
If you have an iBook with a serial number in that range that has
these problems, you may obtain service for three years from your date
of purchase to correct this problem. You may obtain this service
either by returning your iBook to Small Dog Electronics or any other
authorized Apple Service Provider or by contacting Apple directly at
800-275-2273.
If you have already paid for a logic board repair and your unit falls
into this category, Apple is going to proactively seek you out to
reimburse you for the repair cost.
