The Kerberos Extras installer was revised with the new file back at
the end of June just before WWDC when the first general seed of
Panther was released. As I mentioned in the previous e-mail, this
revised Kerberos Extras installs a CFM shim file that works on both
Jaguar and Panther, making the upgrade more seamless.

Thus the behaviors you described are explained by when and where you
got your Kerberos Extras installer. The way the /software links
works, it points to the Kerberos team's distribution of the installer
so changes can be promptly made. Unfortunately the Kerberos Extras
included on the Fall CD *does not* work with Panther.

The current revision of the Kerberos Extras installer is rev. 12. The
revision number is listed at the top of Read Me pane in the
installer. It is safe to install this revision on any version of
Jaguar or Panther currently available.
