Folks-

This session provides a sneak-peek at several of the exciting
UNIX-related features planned for Panther, the new version of Mac OS X
(v10.3) due later this year. The first section will focus on X11 for
Mac OS X v1.0, which will be bundled with Panther. Apple's
implementation of the X11 windowing system, based on XFree86 4.3,
features fast OpenGL graphics and an Aqua-compatible "quartz-wm" Window
Manager. The 1.0 version for Panther adds full-screen support and
Finder integration, allowing you to launch X11.app by double-clicking
on an X11 binary.

The second section will focus on other UNIX-related improvements in
Panther, including:

Greatly improved NFS performance and reliability

Single sign-on using Kerberos

Quartz for UNIX - command-line and script access to rich graphics tools

UNIX upgrades (BSD updates, UNIX/Linux APIs, and much more)
