Greetings!

I would like to invite supply chain faculty and their students to participate in the 3rd annual WISE Future Leaders Symposium. WISE stands for Women Impacting Supply Chain Excellence. What started as a student organization at the University of Arkansas has evolved into an international program that connects and motivates female supply chain students and faculty that inspire and encourage them. As companies and universities strive to see more diversity in their supply chains, WISE is focused on increasing and retaining the number of women entering the supply chain workforce and developing male allies. WISE has 4 strategic pillars: making connections, personal and professional development, leadership skills, and industry knowledge. WISE events seek to inspire and encourage the next generation of supply chain leaders. I hope that you are your students (regardless of gender) will participate in this year's virtual event.

As a virtual event, there are no restrictions this year on the number of students or faculty who can attend from each university - the more the merrier. To avoid Zoom overload, we will be offering series of events for students to participate in. The October 29th event is the main event, but students and faculty have the option to participate in others:

  1. Friday, October 8th - Virtual Networking event from 2-4pm CST: Students will have the opportunity to engage with WISE sponsors to learn about internship and full-time opportunities. Students the elect to participate in this event will receive job postings about the opportunities for all involved companies. Currently, there are about 15 companies that should be participating.
  2. Thursday, October 28th - "Virtual Social" from 6-8pm CST: The purpose of this event is for the students only to connect and get to know each other in a fun, relaxed environment. Attendance is optional, but will be fun!
  3. Friday, October 29th - Main Symposium event from 9am-1pm CST: There will be some keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and more. If possible and considered safe, I would recommend having a watch party at your university for those participating. I've reserved a large room here at the U of A for the students to get together, masked up and socially distanced to watch. I also plan to have pizza outside for them after so they can discuss what they learned and were inspired by.
  4. Early January 2022 - Winter Break Leadership Workshop Discussion: Virtual event, time and date TBD: Small group discussion about the book Weekend Language: Presenting with More Stories and Less Powerpoint by Craig and Yewman.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Registration will be open until the week of the event, but early registrants will receive information about internship and full-time opportunities from our WISE sponsors and will be able to participate in the October 8th Networking event.

Hope you all have a happy and healthy semester!

Stephanie
