Position Information
Mississippi State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Supply Chain Logistics, beginning August 2022. The position involves conducting research and publishing in top-tier journals, teaching supply chain/logistic courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (online and face-to-face), and providing appropriate service to the university, business community, and discipline.
Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in a directly related field (i.e., Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Management, Marketing, Operations Management, Decision Sciences) or other field with substantial graduate course work in supply chain management, logistics, marketing, operations management, or management science. An interest in teaching in the areas of supply chain and related subjects, particularly in transportation, procurement, or process improvement; as well as a desire to conduct high-quality collaborative research in the areas of supply chain and logistics are required. Expertise in contemporary research methods, and popular practitioner tools such as Power BI, SAP, or Tableau, are also desirable. Subject to compatibility with the Mississippi State College of Business journal list, a candidate's extant body of work published in quality peer-reviewed academic journals will be recognized for future promotion and tenure. Interdisciplinary or collaborative research within business disciplines is encouraged. Outstanding ABDs, very near completion, with a strong research record and professional and outreach experience, will be considered.
Preferred candidates will have completed a doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution with an emphasis in supply chain management or a closely related field, and evidence of excellent teaching skills. Professional industry and/or practitioner outreach experience is highly desired. The normal teaching load for tenure-track faculty is two courses per semester. Exceptional candidates with extensive faculty experience may be considered at the rank of Associate Professor.
