Dear colleagues,

Following the "Last-Mile Routing Research Challenge" (https://routingchallenge.mit.edu) hosted by Amazon and supported by the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, we will be guest editing a special issue of Transportation Science on "Machine Learning Methods and Applications in Large-Scale Route Planning Problems". While inspired by the research challenge, this special issue is not limited to papers discussing work related to the specific problem tackled by the research challenge. Therefore, if you are working on machine learning-based approaches to route optimization or related problems, we encourage you to submit your work to this special issue, even if you did not participate in the challenge.

The submission deadline is November 30, 2021. For further details, please see the corresponding Call for Papers on the website of Transportation Science:
https://pubsonline.informs.org/page/trsc/calls-for-papers

We look forward to receiving your submissions!

Best regards
Matthias Winkenbach
