Postdoctoral Associate, Supply Chain Circularity @ MIT CTL
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) is growing rapidly and we are seeking a talented and energetic professional for a Postdoctoral Associate position.
We are looking for a qualified, curious, and passionate post-doc associate to contribute to our team. Specifically, we are looking for a postdoc to join our research line on supply chain circularity. Associates will assist in the development and delivery of industry leading research, manage the relationship with project sponsors, and assist and take leadership in writing manuscripts. Associates will also be expected to support other educational and center activities as well as publish in top international journals.
An ideal candidate will have demonstrated research and leadership in supply chain sustainability with an emphasis on circular economy particularly supply chain circularity. Candidate will be primarily responsible for envisioning and enacting new circular supply chain models, conducting analysis of existing data sets, developing quantitative models, assisting and taking leadership in writing manuscripts, management of relationship and deliverables for project sponsors, and assisting the senior research staff in all matters related to the research. Research experience in optimizing transportation networks, network design models, reverse logistics, and recovery processes is highly desirable.
Candidates are expected to support center activities when appropriate including presenting results and findings to various audiences. Good presentation and communication skills are a must.
Proficiency in English communication and excellent technical writing skills required. The current position is for one year with a possibility of an extension to two years depending on funding and performance.
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in supply chain management/logistics/transportation/operations management/industrial engineering/operations research/computer science/information system/business management/related field; in-depth research knowledge in and experience with at least one of the following—sustainable supply chains, circular economy, data-driven logistics/supply chain, reverse logistics, network design; documented experience with research dissemination in international scientific journals and conferences; proficiency coding in programming languages, preferably Python; excellent communication and presentation skills; and self-motivation.
PREFERRED: in-depth knowledge of and relevant experience in applied projects on data analytics and machine learning in the context of logistics, supply chain, operations, and/or related field.
