Job Description

The Managerial Sciences Department at the University of Nevada, Reno is hiring an Assistant Professor (tenure track) with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. This position will be responsible for conducting research and teaching courses related to Operations Management.  This position is part of a multi-year commitment to establish the University of Nevada, Reno as an international leader in Advanced Manufacturing Research. The availability of this position is contingent on available funding.



Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate introductory and advanced courses in Operations and related subjects. Advanced subjects may include: Predictive Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Six Sigma Quality, Optimization, Simulation, New Product Development, International Supply Chain Management, Outsourcing / Supplier Management, etc., depending on the candidate's interests and qualifications.  Additionally, the position requires contributions to the mission of the university by providing service and other shared governance activities and by facilitating connections with the regional business community.



Required Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D. in Operations or related field (e.g. Operations Management, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Analytics, or similar) from an accredited institution.

If the degree is from a business school, the school should be accredited by AACSB; engineering degrees should be from schools accredited by ABET.

Candidates who are A.B.D. must have completed their Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated effectiveness, or have strong potential in teaching operations courses, and have a great potential for research.



Compensation Grade

Assistant Professor - Rank II

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
