The Department of Supply Chain Management & Analytics (SCMA) in the School
of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University invites outstanding
candidates to apply for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of
Supply Chain Management and Analytics. This is a tenure-track faculty
position, effective August 16, 2018.

*Position Responsibilities *

1. Research: The faculty member is expected to successfully conduct
scholarly research at the intersection of supply chain or operations
management and analytics where the output of such research appears in high
caliber peer-reviewed journals (e.g., the SCM Journal List). The faculty
member is also expected to establish a nationally recognized research
program with a record of publication in the aforementioned journals.
External funding of research projects is encouraged. A successful candidate
will be encouraged to develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance
the research program at VCU.

2. Teaching: The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities at the
intersection of analytics and supply chain management at the undergraduate
and graduate levels. Opportunities exist for qualified candidates to also
teach in the School of Business Executive Graduate Programs.

3. Service: The faculty member will serve on departmental, School of
Business, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a
professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer,
etc. Junior faculty members service loads, however, are lesser in
comparison to facilitate the establishment of a rigorous research program.

*Required Qualifications *

A qualified candidate should have obtained a Ph.D. degree (or anticipated
by August 2018) in supply chain management, operations management, business
analytics, statistics, or a related discipline. A candidate applying for
the Assistant Professor level is expected to have an established research
agenda with a clear plan for top-tier publications. The ability to obtain
external funding is also a positive trait. A candidate at the Associate
Professor level is expected to have an established publication record and
demonstrated successful teaching performance. The faculty member should be
willing to teach undergraduate and graduate supply chain and/or analytics
courses. Opportunities also exist to teach in the School of Business
Professional Programs. In addition, the candidate should have the desire
and ability to engage supply chain professionals and local stakeholders as
the department is continuing to forge strategic partnerships with the local
business and supply chain community.

Although all areas of supply chain management are considered, special
consideration will be given to a candidate who intersects their scholarship
and teaching interests with business analytics. The ideal candidate will
have had full-time work experience with responsibilities in a functional
role related to supply chain management which fosters an appreciation for
and awareness of business practice. Further, the candidate should have the
desire to actively engage in collaboration with current faculty and
relevant stakeholders. Must have demonstrated experience working in and
fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment
to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
