[Logprofs] Logprofs Policy Issue -- Vox populi, vox dei -- Silence implies consent

Dear Logprofs Members:
I have received the following suggestion from a list member:    "Starting recently, publishers are using the logprofs list for marketing purposes and are mailing their new table of contents (as done today by Louise Lister). I really like the logprofs mailing list. But I was in belief that this was for scholars to send information to other scholars for which they do not have regular distribution channels. I think it would benefit the community if commercial mailings like by Emerald Publishing could be kept of the list." 
This being election season (Brexit, etc.), I thought I might solicit the opinion of the membership to see which way the wind is blowing on this issue. If you have strong feelings one way or the other on this issue (or on any other logprofs related matter) please let me know via email to jim.masters.email at gmail.com when you get a chance.
