Dear colleagues
It gives us great pleasure to send you this update regarding the 5th European Decision Sciences Institute conference to be hosted by our Department of Entrepreneurship and Relationship Management, University of Southern Denmark, Kolding, Denmark.
1. Paper Submissions
Authors can submit their manuscript by emailing it to Pernille (phc at sam.sdu.dk<mailto:phc at sam.sdu.dk>). To date, we have received 2 full paper submissions. We are also excited to let all interested authors know that we will also be accepting extended abstract submissions for the conference. The template for the extended abstract submissions can be found at the following website: http://edsi2014.sam.sdu.dk/call-for-papers/deadline.html.
We are also delighted to remind the authors that selected full paper submissions will be considered for a focused issue on "Exploring Innovations in Global Supply Chain Networks" in the Decision Sciences Journal.
2. Keynote Speakers
The conference will include two keynote events. Both the events are now confirmed. The keynote speakers are Mr. Henrik Stiesdal, Chief Technology Officer, Siemens Wind Power and Mr. Mads Nipper, Chief Marketing Officer, LEGO Group.
3. Invited Sessions
We are also planning on organizing few invited sessions on key topics of research. As of now, we have decided on the following sessions.
· The first session on "Big Data Analytics and Resources: Preparing the Next Generation of Knowledge Workers" will be coordinated by Paul Cronan and David Douglas, University of Arkansas.
· The second session on "Planning and Decision Making in Crisis and Disaster Relief Situations" will be chaired by Ram Narasimhan, Michigan State University. Panelists for this session will include Clay Whybark, University of North Carolina, USA; John Anderson, University of Minnesota, USA; Gyongyi Kovacs, Hanken University, Finland
· We have also decided on having four invited special sessions (as part of the parallel paper sessions) covering topics such as: 1. Globalization: Outsourcing, offshoring, and backshoring; 2. Sustainable Supply Chain Management; 3. Supply Chain Innovation: Challenges in theorizing and data collection; and 4. Qualitative Studies: The Case Study Methodology.
4. Plant Tours
The planning for the plant tour to Siemens Wind Power has also been finalized. Information regarding this plant tour is available on the conference website (www.edsi2014.dk<http://www.edsi2014.dk>).
5. Networking Events
The conference will include multiple networking events. Interested participants can participate in a trip to LegoLand on the 29th of June. The conference will also host dinner events on three nights (June 29, June 30, and July 01). Details of these events are also available on the conference website.
Apart from providing you with an update on the progress, we also wanted to once again encourage you to submit your research manuscript as well as participate in this conference. If your research manuscript is not fully developed, you can choose to submit an extended abstract instead. Another important update we want to provide is that we are extending the deadline for full paper as well as extended abstract submissions till April 15, 2014. But owing to proper planning of the conference (e.g., ensuring availability of rooms in the conference hotel at a lower price), we are unable to extend the deadline for early bird registration (which is April 01, 2014). Therefore, we encourage authors interested in availing the early bird registration rate to submit their manuscripts by March 28, 2014.
We are looking forward to receiving your submission as well as seeing you in Kolding, Denmark.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Jan Stentoft Arlbjørn & Antony Paulraj
