—— Apologies for cross posting ——
VU University Amsterdam in the Netherlands invites applications for two Assistant or Associate Professors in Logistics/Suppy Chain Management in the department Information, Logistics & Innovation within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The Logistics group is focused on research in the areas of benchmarking & performance evaluation, coordination & incentive alignment, and tactical and operational distribution planning. Within this context we offer the two positions.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEWEB) seeks to combine high quality education with excellent research. You will teach at the Bachelor level, Master level and/or PhD level. Our Master in Transport and Supply Chain Management is unique since it combines Transport Economics with Supply Chain Management in one MSc program. All teaching is done in English.
Candidates are expected to have a PhD degree in an area related to Business Administration with concentration in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or similar. You have a strong potential and ambition for teaching and research in supply chain logistics. You have a background in business administration, economics, industrial engineering, logistics, operations management or operations research. You have research experience in supply chain logistics, witnessed by international scientific publications.
For a position of associate professor we expect a strong publication record; an ability to initiate and build up a line of research, as shown for instance by a track record in PhD supervision and acquisition of external funding; and experience in teaching and curriculum management.
An assistant professor position is a tenure track position with an initial appointment for 2+4 years and the possibility of tenure. A tenure track position ensures that 40% of your time will be allocated to research. At the end of the second year a performance evaluation will take place, focused on deciding whether to extend the appointment for another 4 years. In the fifth year of the appointment the tenure decision will be taken.
If you are appointed as an associate professor, research time allocated depends on past publication records.
You can obtain more information about the position and how to apply via the link below or in the enclosed document:
