Part-time Instructor Position in Supply Chain Management
Department of Supply Chan & Information Systems (SC&IS)

The Smeal College of Business invites applications for a part-time instructor position in Supply Chain Management, available January 2014. This is a two year, fixed term renewable appointment subject to mutual agreement at the end of the second year for additional years on a one year renewable appointment basis.
Job Description: The individual appointed will provide instructional support assist and student assessment for an online graduate course covering the integration of new product development, manufacturing, and supply chain management. Assessments include evaluation of supply chain and new product design case studies, evaluation of supply chain simulation performance, and an actual design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) product assessment. Assignment evaluations require detailed professional and technical written feedback as well as the determination of assignment grades. Teaching load includes one course in each of the Fall (September-December) and Spring (February-May) semesters. Typical course size is 50-75 students.
Job Qualifications: Minimum requirement is a Masters in Engineering (Ph.D. preferred) and a demonstrated knowledge as well as experience in modern supply chain management. Excellent University-level teaching and communication skills are required. The individual must have previous supply chain and online teaching experience. Strong professional recommendations are also expected. The assigned course presents product development/realization in a business context and is designed for engineering students. The individual selected will be expected to understand the inner workings of product design and materials and be able to access the implications of choices in these matters from both an engineering and business perspective. The individual must also be available to meet periodically throughout the semester with the course's lead instructors.
