The Smeal College of Business is seeking an Executive Director to lead Penn State's Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR). The Executive Director will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty and have overall responsibility for operation of an existing center with approximately 50 corporate members and a budget of over $600,000. CSCR is one of the premier research centers in the creation and dissemination of new knowledge in supply chain management. Founded in 1989, the Center resides within the Smeal College, yet draws faculty affiliates from a multitude of disciplines. The center attracts outstanding organizations as sponsors with the objective of fostering a community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to shaping global supply chain management theory and practice. The center focuses its efforts in four major areas of emphasis: research, benchmarking groups, executive education, and corporate sponsorship.

In particular, the Executive Director will develop and communicate vision and strategy for the center and serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for supply chain activities at Penn State. He or she will promote meaningful and progressive supply chain research through collaboration with the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems as well as other units within and external to Penn State and in collaboration with the Director of Research, define research strategy and research programs. The Executive Director will develop and organize benchmarking topics and groups and partner with Smeal Executive Programs to develop and execute open enrollment and customized executive education programs for CSCR members and other corporate clients.

He or she will develop relationships with new corporate sponsors and maintain and broaden relationships with existing sponsors. This will include developing and managing outreach events including corporate sponsor meetings, Supply Chain Leaders Forums, the Supply Chain Career Fair, and the Hadley Waters Symposium. The Executive Director will manage the center staff and hold primary financial responsibility for the Center - both financial health and the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports.

Candidates for the position should have experience in leading industry and/or academic supply chain organizations and activities and will have a prominent record of extensive industry interaction including extensive participation in industry associations. A successful candidate will have a Master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline and will be qualified to hold the title of senior research associate, or clinical or tenure track professorial rank. He or she will also have the potential to be an effective executive programs instructor. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
