Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Renewable Energy Delivery

MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Zaragoza Logistics
Center (ZLC) in Spain partnered to create an international program for
education and research in logistics & supply chain management. The ZLC now
has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the vibrant and
growing research team in the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program.

The ZLC has funding to design systems for renewable energy delivery,
utilizing supply chain, systems engineering, and operations research
principles. The multi-year project is being developed in direct
collaboration with Acciona Energy, the world leader in the development and
construction of windparks, and other leading Spanish energy companies. The
initial focus is to develop optimization models for renewable production,
storage and distribution of hydrogen. This work forms the foundation for
further research into energy supply networks as they transition to include
more renewable sources like wind. The MIT-Zaragoza partnership actively
links this project with ongoing work in the MIT Energy Initiative, a major
initiative aimed to transform the global energy system.

The Research Fellow position is initially for one year, with likely
extension to two years or more, and can start during the 2008-2009 academic
year. Candidates are expected to develop a strong research program and
publish in top international journals. Salary and benefits are competitive
and based on experience. Requirements include a PhD in supply chain
management, operations research, engineering, economics, energy or related
disciplines. Candidates with a master’s degree and energy system experience
may be considered. Spanish language skills are not required. Please contact
Mozart Menezes (mmenezes at zlc.edu.es) or Jarrod Goentzel (goentzel at mit.edu)
with questions.

The Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) is an innovative institute of supply
chain research and education founded in 2003 by the Government of Aragón,
the University of Zaragoza, industry partners, and the MIT Center for
Transportation and Logistics. The ZLC, named by the Ministry of Education
and Science in Spain as the National Center of Excellence for research in
logistics and supply chain management, offers a unique opportunity to create
laboratory environments with ample space in a building being constructed in
the middle of PLAZA, the largest logistics park in Europe. Through the
MIT-Zaragoza program, ZLC faculty and researchers have active collaboration
with MIT researchers and students, including joint projects and visiting
opportunities. For more information, please visit the website at
