Dear Colleague,
I am very pleased to announce the establishment of a new journal that
will play a major role in the development of a body of knowledge in the
rapidly developing area of global defense procurement: The International
Journal of Defense Acquisition Management (IJDAM) is a peer-reviewed
journal that welcomes submissions from all those interested in this
field.
We are taking the broadest possible interpretation of what constitutes
defense acquisition management, so as not to exclude any particular
related field or subject. The following list of topics is provided to
indicate the range of potential research areas of interest: acquisition
and procurement policy, supply chain management, public budgeting and
finance, cost management, project management, human resources
management, logistics management, engineering management, outsourcing,
performance measurement, etc.
The creation of the journal is due to the generous sponsorship and
support of Cranfield University and the Defence College of Management
and Technology in the UK, and the Acquisition Research Program of the
Naval Postgraduate School in the US. Our Web site, which includes the
editorial policy and submission guidelines, is at
http://www.acquisitionjournal.org <http://www.acquisitionjournal.org/> .
Dr. David Moore of Cranfield University and I will share
responsibilities as founding co-editors. Our goal is a journal that
will examine national and multinational defense acquisition from a
global perspective. Articles that discuss only a single country are
certainly welcome, but should be developed to cater to an international
audience. We do not wish to emphasize the internal acquisition
processes or lessons learned of an individual country solely from that
nation's perspective, as other journals already cover that body of
knowledge.
IJDAM articles will be published for free download online only, in PDF.
Articles will be posted as soon as they are approved by the Co-Editors,
following the peer-review process. Accordingly, articles will have
their pages numbered consecutively in annual Volumes; there will be no
individual Issues. This approach will assist with rapid dissemination
of new research.
Finally, we will soon be establishing a listserv utility that will allow
you to subscribe or unsubscribe to the Journal. Additionally, we
welcome articles and commentaries, offers to review manuscripts, and
suggestions as to the evolution of this exciting new publication. In
the meantime, please add http://www.acquisitionjournal.org
<http://www.acquisitionjournal.org/> to your Favorites list, and
consider participating in this new research publication!
Regards,
