Petition to Support Black Lives at MIT

The Black Graduate Students' Association and the Black Student Union have a
petition, http://bgsa.mit.edu/sbl2020, calling on MIT leadership to be
proactive in making MIT a place where Black people can exist safely and
thrive. We encourage everyone in the swing dance community to sign the
petition as individuals <http://bgsa.mit.edu/sbl2020>. Note that there is a
"Friend of MIT" option, so you do not need to be an MIT student or employee
to sign. The Lindy Hop Society has signed the petition as an organization
in support of our fellow students and members, and also in recognition that
swing dance is a Black dance tradition. Please feel free to share the
petition with others.

The full details of the petition and a form to sign on can be found at
bgsa.mit.edu/sbl2020.

COVID-19 update

President Reif's letter "Initial decisions about fall at MIT"
<https://covid19.mit.edu/initial-decisions-about-fall-at-mit> declares that
there will be "No large gatherings" at MIT during Fall 2020 because of
COVID-19. Therefore, *all MIT Lindy Hop Society dances are canceled
through the end of Fall 2020.*

Please stay tuned to MIT's COVID-19 website https://covid19.mit.edu/ for
further updates about MIT's plans regarding COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns about the MIT swing dance, please
write back to us at swing at mit.edu .

If you're looking for your dance fix, Boston Swing Central has been holding
virtual events that may be of interest (
https://www.facebook.com/pg/BostonSwingCentral/events/).

Stay well, everyone, and we look forward to seeing you when dances resume.
