We are in building 36 this week, a small classroom that will
likely become very warm.

* MIT Lindy Hop Society Wednesday Swing Dance
* Wednesday, August 16, Lesson 7:30 Dancing 9-11:30 p.m.
* Building 36, room 112
  http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=36
* Free, Beginners welcome, No partner necessary
* DJs Jodi Daynard and Stephen York

At 7:30 before the dance, Ken will teach a lesson on a topic
typically not considered dance: how to conduct a musical
group such as an orchestra or marching band. For
inspiration, see this video, the opening to the movie
"Moulin Rouge":

The purpose of the lesson will be to teach how music is
constructed and teach musicality, how you as a dancer (or
conductor) can interpret music artistically. This will NOT
be a traditional partner dancing lesson. (We will return to
traditional swing lessons in future weeks when we are back
in larger rooms.)

If anyone is available to help me set up the dance, meet me
at W20-437 (our storage room) at 6:30 pm.

Would anyone like to teach in August or September?

Locations and DJs for the next few weeks:

8/16 36-112, DJs Jodi Daynard and Stephen York
8/23 36-112, DJs Dustin Spicuzza and Eric Reesman
8/30 36-112, DJ Ted Simpson

P.S.:

Help wanted! If you are an MIT student and available to
occasionally help out with the club, let me know. (We would
like to avoid the club having a single point of failure,
namely me.)  No commitment required!
