Two dances this week, Wednesday AND Thursday. FIREWORK
lesson before Wednesday dance.
* MIT Lindy Hop Society Wednesday night dance
* Wednesday, December 28, Lesson 7:30, Dancing 9-11:30 p.m.
* Lobdell Dining Hall, Student Center 2nd floor
* Free, Beginners welcome, No partner necessary
* DJs Ted Simpson and Foxman James
At 7:30, Joy and Hsiu will teach a "Firework" lesson:
Have you been wondering if you can do the swing dance moves in a
dance club? Want to add some firework to the moves you are already
doing?
Hsiu (pronounced Sho) Chang has been dancing since 2003. He started
in Raleigh, NC with West Coast Swing. He has been to numerous
workshops including Swingout New Hampshire, Beantown, Southwest
Lindy Festival, and Frankie 95. At these events, he has always
thought the best dancing comes out late at night when the DJ would
play pop songs and dance hits and the teachers would just improvise
and have fun.
With the talented Joy Deligianides, they will go over some Six-Count
advanced beginner moves such as:
- Inside Roll and Reverse
- Inside Roll and Outside Turn
- Stutter Shuffle
- The Loop
- Barrel Roll
- Washing Machine
- Mini Dip
He will then show variations that dancers can use with any song. He
will be using Katy Perry's song "Firework" which is nominated for a
Grammy this year.
And on Thursday...
* MIT Lindy Hop Society Special Thursday blues dance
* Thursday, December 29, Lesson 7:30, Dancing 9-11:30 p.m.
* Building 36, room 112 (50 Vassar St, Cambridge, MA)
http://whereis.mit.edu/?q=36
* Free, Beginners welcome, No partner necessary
* DJs Ajayi Harris and Stephen York
At 7:30 before the dance, Ken will teach a beginner blues
lesson.
Would anyone like to teach a lesson before our Wednesday,
January 4 dance in Lobdell?
Starting January 11 (IAP), Sarah and Vinay will teach a
4-week swing lesson series.
